Training
Training is a planned effort to change behavior and skills of trainees and their views and orientation by using various training and guidance systems to perform the required works in accordance with work standards in an satisfactory way.

  • Trainer
  • Is the person who seeks to acquire skills, experience or knowledge and seeks to transfer it into others through organized training programs or through performing his duty. He must have the ability to convey information to others.
  • Trainee
  • Is the person who seeks to acquire skills, experience or knowledge from those who obtained it as an initiative by himself to improve his capabilities by using programs and various training methods required by his profession and is available at the training institution.

 Participants
These are persons who design and produce a training program. To increase the effectiveness of the program, participants shall be working in the same specialization and at the same job level and from the same business sector e.g. (banking).

Training Material
This is the material prepared by the trainer and is seeking to convey its content to the trainees who are taking part in the program by using audio-visual mean means. The training material is regarded as criterion and means of comparison between training methods.

Strategic Training
This is the integrated continuous and comprehensive development and improvement based on strategic plans. It also explains the vision, mission, values and the return of the training process. In addition to attain the strategic bases as effective models for setting job ladder at the organization for the purpose of attaining the organizational strategic objectives.

  • Train To Work
  • this refers to training that contains rehabilitation programs for newly employed persons. It could take place within or outside the place of work during which the trainee will be given a monthly remuneration and after the successful completion of program

In-service Training
This is a type of training employees given to employees in connection with their work to help them develop skills, etc.

Local Training
This is a type of training that takes place locally by training companies. Its cost is less but more expensive than the in-service training.

Training Abroad
This is the type of training that takes place in a foreign country. It could be theoretical or practical. It is an expensive type of training because it includes air tickets, accommodation and cost of living for the trainee overseas.

  • Supplementary Training
  • This is a type of training whereby the trainee is trained in the evenings at a specialized institution.

  • Vestibule Training
  • This is a type of training outside his working place whereby the trainee acquires a certain skill related to his profession or vocation. It may include equipment maintenance using similar equipment and devices to those at work.
  • Apprenticeship
  • This is a type of training which aims at qualifying a trainee to carry out a vocation or profession without attending a training institution.
  • Continual Improvement “Kaizen”
  • Continuous improvement is an ongoing training to improve products, services or processes. These efforts can seek “incremental” improvement over time or “breakthrough” improvement all at once. A trainee here is given certain little assignments to gain experience and skills.

  • Cooperative Training
  • This type of training with a certain curriculum and with a certain number of trainees and training hours implemented in cooperation with a company or an organization. Here the trainee completes his training within the company or organization.
  • Simulation Imitation
  • This is another way of training that depends of imitation of an individual who has experience by the trainee.
  • Training Strategy
  • Training strategy means planning to cope with changes and adapt to new developments by investing in the human factor by developing their capabilities

  • HR Investment
  • This is the effort exerted and money spent on developing human resources of the organization especially through training. The benefits of growth and development are unseen and immeasurable. Organizations reap the fruits of their human resources investment when productivity increases and efficiency of work.

  • Training Objectives
  • These are the aims and purposes of training i.e. the improvement of performance and preparation for higher posts.

  • Audio Visual Aids
  • These are means and devices used for training by trainers such as TV, video etc…
  • Lecture
  • This is the most widespread means of training. Information is delivered to trainee by the trainer; the trainee’s participation is very limited. A lecture could be a complementary part of the information or part of other teaching methods within the training program.

  • Seminars and Workshops
  • This is also an interactive training system where issues or problems raised and discussed among the trainees under the directives of their trainer who fully controls the discussion.

  • Training Needs
  • This is the disparity between work requirements for skills, knowledge and training behavior and those the trainee already has. These needs are turned into a training plan and programs are designed on this basis.

  • Training Plan
  • This is an organized statement about development at the organization showing the training objectives and means of implementation during a specified period of time to meet the training needs of the organization.
  • Training Program
  • This is an organized transfer of skills, experiences and knowledge where trainers meet trainees in one place during a specified period of time.
  • Management Games
  • This is a training system whereby trainee groups compete. Each group is asked to solve a problem by comparing solutions and proposals of other groups.

  • Discussions
  • This is one of the most popular means of training. Here views and opinions are exchanged between trainees and the trainer or among trainees during lectures or during management games.

Self Development
This is a training method where trainer trains himself alone. He only seeks and comprehends written information or from a computer.

  • General Skills
  • These are the skills which the trainee is required to obtain in order to perform a certain job such as report writing.

Specialized Skills
These are the skills which are needed to perform a job or a group of functions in the same specialty such as financial analysis skill or equipment maintenance etc…

Acquiring Basic Skills
This is a training process where a trainee acquires some basic skills of a job. The training usually takes place at a specialized school or an institute or in a long term training program

  • Assessment
  • A process used to systematically evaluate a learner's skill or knowledge level.
  • Training Through the Internet
  • Training delivered primarily by TCP/IP network technologies such as email, newsgroups, proprietary applications, and so forth.

Training Program Objectives
These are the aims and objectives for which the training program is developed. What is expected of the trainee to acquire at the end of the course.

  • Retraining
  • An employee could be retrained when his function changes or when a technology he uses is changed or even when he is transferred to another section with different functions.
  •  Training and Development Specialist
  • A specialist who identifies the training needs and then designs programs and implements them. He solve problem connected with the program and removes any obstacles and then assesses the program to see whether it is suitable or not.


Detailed Training Program
This is a specially prepared program to meet certain needs of a trainee or group of trainees. The program takes into account the conditions and special skills and knowledge needs of their organizations.


  • Intensive Training Program
  • This is a training program that aims at giving a trainee the largest quantity of information in the shortest possible time.
  • Trainer Development
  • This is a program that contains the wider concept of knowledge and development activities aimed for increasing the capabilities and abilities of the trainer so that he carries out the tasks of a certain job or function. The program aims at preparing the trainer to develop professionally for other posts in the future.
  • Human Resource Development
  • This means total development of the human factor. It includes all stages of education and health, social and ethical care. It also includes training while at work.
  • Trainee Evaluation
  • This refers to planning and organizing programs, identifying it components and elements. Trainee Evaluation also includes the suitability of a program to achieve its goals.

  • Designing Training Program
  •  This is the process of conversion of training needs into organized programs that include issues and subjects and methods of training in addition to timetable all aim at selecting the best way for attaining needed skills.

  • Role Playing
  • This is another training method where trainees play roles similar to what should happen at real working place, then the trainer and participants evaluate the performance of those who played these roles.

  • Training Schedule
  • This defines the beginning and the end of the training period (days) and the number of training hours necessary to complete the training program. It includes how this timetable strictly adheres to the working conditions, trainee and trainer conditions in such a way as to reduce anxiety and absenteeism.
  • Case Study
  • This is also another training method where the trainee is given a case to study, evaluate and propose solutions to problems. This method develops the trainee’s analyzes and research and Logical conclusion capabilities.

  • Training Methods
    Training methods are methods of conveying knowledge, experience and skills from the trainer to the trainee by using various methods and systems whether at lecture halls or workshops or otherwise. The training method depends on the type of skill need to be acquired.

Training Effectiveness
Effectiveness of training is the impact of the training program on the trainee personality in terms of behavior and technical skills acquired and transfer of that to the field of work. This is contrary to the concept of training for the purpose of training.

  • Training Laboratories
  • These are laboratories meant only for training purposes. Special laboratories are mostly used for language and computer training purposes.

  • Coping With Development
  • One of the main objectives of training is to cope and keep pace with development.
  •  
  • Training Place
  • These are the halls, workshops or offices where training takes place. In selecting or building training places type of training is taken into consideration, conditions of place and other factor necessary for successful training.
  •  Training Program Contents
  • This is the identification of topics of the program which must be compatible with the aims and objectives of the program and the methods and ways of implementing the program.

  • Training Firms
  • Training firms are public and private sector firms and institutions which provide training programs in accordance with certain applications or in accordance with requests.

  • Training Program Organizer
  • This is the person who is responsible for the management of the program. He shall ensure that training needs of the program are available and training place, training materials are ready and trainees are in attendance. Short breaks and other trainee and trainer needs are provided

  • Training Model
  • These are a set of training consecutive curricula that start with an introductory curriculum and then moves to a foundation curricula dedicated to developing the skills of trainees and rehabilitation of professionals and specialists in specific areas.
